On August 17, 2006, C.P.O. Arlene Dale was on duty at the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida South Florida Regional Transportation Authority Train Station. While at this location, C.P.O Dale was made aware that there was a suspect fitting the description of a suspect that was wanted by the Broward County Sheriff's Office for first degree murder inside the ticket office. C.P.O. Dale was able to clear the area surrounding the ticket office and was able to keep other SFRTA passengers at a safe distance away from the ticket office until Deputies arrived. C.P.O. Dale made the necessary notifications and was able to monitor the suspect's actions until the arrival of the Broward Sheriff's Office. Arriving Sheriff's Deputies were able to confirm the suspect in question was in fact wanted for first degree murder and they took him into custody. It is because of C.P.O. Arlene Dale's attention to duty and her quick appropriate actions which led to the successful arrest of this suspect who only 3 days prior had murdered a person in a nearby city. This suspect was attempting to flee the area on an Amtrak train and was not successful because of C.P.O. Dale's initiative.
