Tallahassee, FL.- Senator Carey Baker, a candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture, has received the top award and the endorsement of the Florida Association of Security Companies (FASCO) in his race to become Florida's next Commissioner of Agriculture. At its December 2009 meeting in Tallahassee, FASCO President KC Poulin said, "Senator Baker has been a long time champion of Florida's 100,000+ Licensed Security Officers. During the last five Legislative Sessions, Senator Baker sponsored and supported Legislation that enhanced the personal safety and protection of Licensed Security Officers." "My candidacy for Commissioner of Agriculture continues to attract the support of the brave men and women who make up Florida's law enforcement and public safety community," Baker said. "It is an honor to be recognized by the Florida Association of Security Companies for my strong record on law enforcement issues. Florida's next Agriculture Commissioner should be someone who understands the important role that licensed security officers play in ensuring the public's safety, and I am proud to have earned their confidence." There are two times the number of Licensed Security Officers than there are Law Enforcement Officers in Florida, and they work together in support of Florida's Homeland Security, Hurricane Recovery, and Public Safety Missions. The FASCO Directors also awarded Senator Baker the prestigious JOHN M. RUSSI AWARD, presented annually to the individual who does the most for Florida's Security Industry while demonstrating professionalism, integrity and courage. Poulin added, "As Commissioner of Agriculture, Senator Carey Baker will be directly in charge of our Industry, and his experience and leadership will further enhance the security and safety of all Floridians."
